ON THE 26TH OF JULY, I picked up a white phosphorous hand grenade, a grenade that burns under water. I pulled the pin on the grenade and drew it back to throw it when suddenly it ex-ploded. I thought we had been hit by a B-40 anti-tank rocket. I'll tell you, it was then I realized - I was as good as dead! I MADE A COMMITMENT at the age of 16 to Jesus Christ. It has been my relationship with Him that has guided me through the tragedies of war, sustained me through the trauma of injury, and
today continues to give direction to my life."
